Everything I Know About Love Title Sequence

For this project, we were assigned to pick a book that had never been made into a series so that we could make a title sequence out of it. The book that we chose was "Everything I Know About Love," written by Dolly Alderton. This book captures the exploration of the many themes of love, while also highlighting the authors self-journey as she tries to find out who she is as a person.

PROJECT BRIEF

Graphic design students picked a book that had never been made into a series. From reading the book, they worked together with Motion Design students to create a title sequence that bridges the book to the title sequence. Graphic Design students worked on mockups of movie posters and CD Casings while Motion Design students created a title sequence.

This mixed-media motion design piece featured tactile elements such as hand-written letters and vintage paper textures. The piece also featured the use of a script font in order to bring the introspective world of the book to life. The elements aided the visualization of the journey of self-discovery, while also highlighting the explorations of the various themes of love displayed in “Everything I know about love.”

To start this project, we created a mood board of tactile elements that fit the vibe of the book. We then went and found real tactile elements that we had in our possessions. Here are some of the mixed media elements that were scanned and then added to the project:

After the we solidified a visual direction that we wanted to go in, we each cracked down on work that needed to be done! Gaby and Lena made these fonts that I used to create the title sequence.

This project was different from others. We were able to see ourselves in the book we selected, and we wanted to tie that into the animation! We became the main characters! We dedicated a day where we all decided to forget about school and homework and have fun! During that day, we ended up taking candid photos of ourselves so that we could add it into the animation later on!

After the videos and photos were taken, I took the fonts that my teammates made, as well as their photos and videos, and began working on a title sequence in After Effects. I worked with 3D elements and lighting effects in order to achieve the look for our project. Our names are also in the title sequences, alongside pictures of us!
